ORAL HEALTH INFORMATION

Your mouth is a living and dynamic environment. The surfaces of the lips, cheeks, palate and gums are replaced continually just as the skin on your body. The mouth surface, (mucosa), has many bacteria living on it. Most of these bacteria are helpful in keeping the mouth healthy but there are others that can cause disease if not kept under control.

Bacteria gathers with dead cells and food debris, forming a material called plaque. Once plaque starts to accumulate it can be felt by the tongue, usually where the teeth meets the gum as a 'furry' feeling. Next
